Places that
ask you to stay
a little longer
Sambora is a small collection of lodges and experiences in East Africa — unhurried, deeply local, and built around the landscapes we call home.
One philosophy,
many places
We began with a single question: what would it mean to build a lodge that felt entirely of its place — not imposed upon it? Sambora Kinigi was the answer. It will not be the last.
Each property in the Sambora collection is shaped around conservation, community, and the unhurried pleasure of being somewhere extraordinary.

90%
Local Employment
Almost the entire team at Sambora are Rwandans and over 75% of the lodge staff, come from communities surround the lodge. Skills training, fair wages, and long-term employment are foundational to how we operate.

Below the Equator
Rwanda sits at the heart of the continent and Sambora. The Virunga volcanoes straddle three countries. Our position here — geographic and ethical — shapes everything we do.
